  1. Print-exact pages: KDP guides in the editor

    • NewThe page editor now draws Amazon KDP's print rules right on the page: the red trim line and bleed band, the dashed safe area that text and art must stay inside, and the wider gutter margin on the binding side — which switches sides automatically for left- and right-hand pages.
    • NewYour own guides: drag them out of the new inch rulers, move them, double-click to remove. Elements snap to guides, margins and the trim line. Everything is editor-only — guides never appear in previews or exported PDFs.
    • NewA Guides panel in the editor toolbar (⌘/Ctrl + ;) toggles each guide type, shows the exact page size and margins for your book, and flags any element that crosses the safe margin — one click selects the offenders.
    • ImprovedManuscript PDFs now match KDP's spec to the point: with bleed the page is 0.125″ wider and 0.25″ taller than the trim size, bleed sits only on the outside edges, and the gutter grows with your page count. Edited pages export exactly as designed instead of being shrunk into the margins.
    • ImprovedPrint setup shows the resulting PDF page size and margins for your choices, and non-KDP books can pick their print platform (Amazon KDP, Lulu, or home printing) — the editor guides and export follow it.
    • ImprovedFrames and freshly opened illustrations are fitted inside the safe area, and template pages stay anchored to the trim box on bleed books, so nothing lands in the margins by accident.
    • NewPage numbers: switch them on in Print Setup or right inside the editor, pick the corner (outer, left, center or right), and turn them off for any individual page. Numbers count from the title page and print inside the safe margin.
    • ImprovedThe Metadata step now comes before Layout, so the title page picks up the generated title and subtitle automatically (until you edit that page by hand) and the book, its listing and its cover all say the same thing.
    • FixedPage thumbnails in the Layout step, the Book view and the editor's page strip now use your book's real proportions — square and landscape books no longer show as portrait pages.
    • ImprovedPage numbers behave like a text element: drag the number on the page to place it, and pick its font, size and color in the editor. They now sit a comfortable 0.55″ from the edge by default, in a larger 14 pt size.
    • NewRemoved a page by mistake? The Layout step now offers Undo in the notification, and ⌘/Ctrl + Z brings the last removed page back.
    • ImprovedListing metadata follows Amazon's KDP rules closely: cover-true title and subtitle under 200 characters combined, no trademarked or promotional words, a structured plain-text description built from your real page facts, and seven backend keyword fields that never repeat your title.
    • NewBook Settings, reorganized: one “Set up with AI” button fills everything from your idea (with Undo), and the options sit in four blocks — page size & print, pages, artwork, structure & brand — each showing its current choices even when collapsed.
    • ImprovedEvery setting now does something: family-safe content and page-to-page variety steer idea and image generation, series info reaches the listing metadata, blank-back page count is shown as a live estimate with a KDP minimum warning, and binding, paper and cover finish appear in the export summary.
    • ImprovedBook Idea templates are a starting point, not a mode: the text stays yours after editing (the card shows “edited”), switching templates asks before replacing your text, and the choice is remembered with the project.
    • ImprovedIllustration Ideas: a two-column list with expandable briefs and a sticky Continue bar, the settings the ideas were written for shown at the top, a safety check before Regenerate All, and one confirmation of the credit spend — after which the Generate step starts on its own.
    • ImprovedNo more locked steps: regeneration costs credits now, so you can go back and regenerate images at any point. A note explains what does not sync once a layout exists.
    • NewMetadata: rewrite a single field — title, subtitle, description, keywords or categories — with AI while the rest stays consistent.
    • FixedBlack blank pages now show black in the Layout grid, the Book view, the editor's page strip and the editor itself. The editor's page strip follows the open page, and PageUp/PageDown (or Alt + arrows) move between pages. Long titles no longer overlap the subtitle on the title page.
    • Improved“Test Your Colors” and “How to Use This Book” now look the same in the editor and in previews, with a fresh design: labelled swatch rows per tool, a mix & blend strip and a bleed-through tip. No emoji in printed templates — most coloring books print in black and white.
    • FixedKDP flagged edited and template pages as “image outside the margins” even though the art sat inside them: Amazon checks the box of every image object, not the visible ink. Page renders are now cropped to the safe area before they go into the PDF (nothing visible changes), and black blank pages switch bleed on, since edge-to-edge ink is only allowed with bleed.
    • ImprovedMetadata categories are real Amazon store categories now: the AI picks three from a curated list of KDP browse paths for coloring and activity books, and you can swap any of them from the same list.
    • ImprovedCover step verified against Amazon's cover calculator: paperback spine and full-cover size match KDP to the thousandth of an inch, hardcover now uses KDP's case-laminate geometry (0.591″ wrap, hinges, board thickness), spine text follows the 80-page rule, and the cover PDF places the back, spine, front and the 2″ × 1.2″ barcode area exactly. Cover thumbnails and back-cover samples use your book's real proportions, and the AI keeps titles and art out of the edge zone the printer cuts.

  2. Help Center, tutorials, and this page

    • NewHelp Center with guides for every part of the studio — getting started, formats, styles, page editing, covers, exports, billing and troubleshooting.
    • NewFour step-by-step tutorials that build a real book start to finish, including a square toddler book and an intricate adult book.
    • NewThis What's New page, so you can see what changed and when.
    • ImprovedThe landing page showcase now renders every book at its true trim size — the square 8.5×8.5 book finally looks square next to the 8.5×11 ones — with the format printed on each cover.
    • FixedThe flip-through book reader cropped square and 8×10 pages into a portrait shape. Pages now display in their real proportions.

  3. Real books on the landing page, and a much better blog

    • NewSix complete books generated entirely in the app are now on the home page, each openable in a flip-through reader — covers and interior pages exactly as exported.
    • NewSix new in-depth articles on KDP publishing, keywords, royalties, formatting and coloring book ideas.
    • NewDecorative floral frame library in the page editor, plus page background colors and fill/stroke controls for elements.
    • ImprovedEvery public page is now pre-rendered as static HTML, so search engines and AI crawlers see the full content instead of an empty shell.
    • ImprovedAlt-drag to duplicate elements in the editor, and a friendlier font set.
    • FixedSeveral wizard pipeline bugs between the generate, layout and cover steps.

  4. A Canva-grade page editor

    • NewElement gallery with 134 ready-made transparent coloring elements across 14 categories, browsable by chips.
    • NewEditor upgrades: font picker, keyboard shortcuts, alignment tools, layers, zoom, snapping, smart guides, grouping, shadows and text spacing.
    • NewDrag and drop your own images straight onto a page.
    • ImprovedAI-generated front covers now keep guaranteed safe margins, so titles never sit too close to the trim line.

  5. Designed template pages and a rebuilt PDF export

    • NewDesigned built-in templates for all 15 special page types — title, copyright, “this book belongs to”, test-your-colors and more.
    • NewBrand style system: pick a playful, elegant or modern look and every template page follows it, with your author name and ISBN.
    • New“Enhance with AI” adds matching decorative art to a template page (1 credit).
    • ImprovedThe manuscript PDF builder was rebuilt — edited pages are honored, images no longer drop out, and a progress bar shows where the export is.
    • FixedThe canvas page editor lost edits and broke undo on some projects. Saves are now stable, and older projects are repaired on open.

  6. Reliable cover generation

    • FixedBack cover generation failed or drifted away from the front cover's style. It now mirrors the front cover's logic and retries cleanly.
    • FixedFront cover rendering on mobile.

  7. Payments, pricing clarity and privacy

    • NewStripe checkout for plans and one-time extra credit packs.
    • NewCredit calculator on the pricing page — enter your book size, see what it costs before you subscribe.
