Troubleshooting common issues
Generation errors, style drift, missing credits, export questions — the fastest fixes, and how to reach a human.
An illustration failed to generate
Occasional failures happen — usually a timeout on the image service. Press regenerate on that page; retries are free and don't consume another credit. If the same scene keeps failing, simplify its description (fewer subjects, less text in the scene) and try again.
Pages don't look consistent with each other
Style drift usually means the style wasn't stated explicitly enough in your book idea. Fix it by describing the look concretely — line weight, cartoon vs. realistic, background density — then regenerate the outlier pages so they inherit the book's style. See Illustration styles and age groups.
My credits look wrong
The header counter shows monthly plan credits plus any extra pack credits. Monthly credits reset on your billing date and don't roll over; extra pack credits never expire and are used only after monthly ones run out. If the number still doesn't add up, email support with your account email and we'll check the ledger.
My export has a watermark
Watermarks appear on trial exports only. Upgrade to any paid plan, then re-export the same project — the new files come out clean, and re-exporting is free.
The editor won't open a page, or my edits vanished
Refresh the page first — the editor restores from the last autosave. If a page still won't load, reopen the project from the dashboard, which reloads the saved canvas from scratch. If edits from an old session look wrong after a product update, open the page in the editor once and save it; that re-writes it in the current format.
My cover spine looks too thin or too thick
Spine width is computed from your final page count and paper type. If you added or removed pages after generating the cover, simply export again — the spread recalculates. See Designing your cover.
The print service rejected my file
Nearly always a mismatch between the trim size you selected in the app and the trim size you chose in the print service's setup. Confirm both say the same thing, then re-run their print previewer. The export checklist covers the rest.
